Ultra-compact titanium dioxide micro-ring resonators with sub-10-μm radius for on-chip photonics

Microring resonators (MRRs) with ultracompact footprints are preferred for enhancing the light-matter interactions to benefit various applications. Here, titanium dioxide ( TiO 2 ) MRRs sub-10-μm radii experimentally demonstrated. Thanks large refractive index of id="m2"> , quality factors up id="m3"> ∼ 7.9 × 10 4 and id="m4"> 4.4 achieved id="m5"> 10 μm 6 μm, respectively, which result in nonlinear power enhancement id="m6"> form="prefix">> 113 Purcell id="m7"> 56 ). The four-wave mixing (FWM) measurements indicate that, compared MRR, FWM conversion efficiency id="m8"> can be greatly improved (e.g., id="m9"> form="prefix">− 25 dB versus id="m10"> 31 ), a harbinger significant superiorities. Demonstrations this work provide more arguments id="m11"> waveguides as promising platform on-chip photonic devices.
